This notice explains how Receipt Finder handles your information. Receipt Finder is provided by Athena Trade Systems Ltd (company number 17386641). For privacy questions, contact hello@athenatradesystems.com.
1. Information you save
Receipt Finder stores receipt photographs, merchant names, purchase dates and amounts, categories and notes. It also stores payment-account labels and any last four digits you enter, together with loyalty-card details and photographs. These records are stored on your device. The app does not connect to your bank or ask for your banking password, full payment-card number or security code.
Camera and photo permissions let you capture or choose images. You can manage those permissions in iOS Settings. Receipt details are entered manually. Receipt Finder does not send your photographs to an AI service for recognition or transcription.
2. Optional OneDrive backup
If you connect your Microsoft account and enable backup, Receipt Finder uploads your records and photographs to an application folder in your own OneDrive account. Microsoft handles sign-in. The app uses authorisation tokens stored through iOS secure storage, account/drive information and an installation identifier to operate the connection and distinguish backups.
Backups go directly to Microsoft OneDrive, not to an Athena receipt-storage server. They are linked to your Microsoft account and are not anonymised. Automatic backup checks operate while the app is open and connected. Receipt Finder rotates three backup files per installation; this is backup, not continuous synchronisation between devices.
You can also export a manual backup to a destination you choose. These files contain records and photographs and are not separately password-encrypted by Receipt Finder. Protect them as you would your original receipts. A recipient or storage provider you choose may be able to access them.
3. Purchases
Apple processes subscriptions and payments. Receipt Finder uses Apple StoreKit to check subscription access and restore purchases. Athena does not receive your full payment-card details through Receipt Finder. An active subscription is required to save new receipts and loyalty cards. Existing records remain available for viewing, searching, editing, deletion and backup recovery without an active subscription.
4. Purposes and providers
Information is processed to provide the features you request: receipt and loyalty-card storage, search, backup, restoration and subscription access. Where Athena processes information to provide the contracted service, the lawful basis is performance of that contract. If you contact support, we use your contact details and message to answer your enquiry, relying on our legitimate interests in supporting customers and resolving problems. We may retain information where needed to meet a legal obligation.
You do not have to connect OneDrive to use local receipt storage. Declining camera access prevents camera capture but you can choose an existing photograph where permitted. Optional permissions and connections can be withdrawn through the app, iOS or your Microsoft account.
The app has no advertising or behavioural-analytics integration. Athena does not sell your receipt data or use it for advertising tracking.
Microsoft operates OneDrive and Apple operates purchases and relevant device services. Their processing, storage locations, retention and applicable international-transfer arrangements are governed by the services and account terms you use. These providers may process information outside the UK. See Microsoft’s Privacy Statement and Apple’s Privacy Policy. We do not claim that these services store all information exclusively in the UK.
5. Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you delete them or remove the app’s local data. Deleting a receipt does not immediately remove it from earlier backup files. Disabling backup or disconnecting OneDrive does not delete files already uploaded. To remove those copies, delete them from OneDrive and any other backup destination; recycle-bin, version-history and retention settings of that service may also apply. Separate app installations may have their own backup files.
Restoring a backup adds missing records while preserving matching existing records. An older backup may restore a record you previously deleted. Athena has no receipt-storage service through which it can recover or delete files from your personal OneDrive account.
Support correspondence is retained for the time needed to resolve the enquiry and any associated dispute or legal requirement. The relevant criteria are whether the matter is still open, whether follow-up is necessary and whether retention is required by law. Contact us if you would like a support record reviewed for deletion.
Cancelling a subscription, disconnecting OneDrive and deleting app data are separate actions. Removing the app does not cancel an Apple subscription or erase exported backups.
6. Your rights
Depending on the processing and circumstances, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of personal information controlled by Athena. Contact hello@athenatradesystems.com. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your request; do not send passwords or access tokens.
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. For information held under your own Microsoft or Apple account, you may also need to use that provider’s privacy controls.
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
7. Changes and support
